An Integral Part of Canada's Heritage
Long before the railroad, this great country was explored, built and connected by Métis trappers traversing the harsh winter terrain by dogsled. There is no doubt that the beginnings of Canada are inseparably connected with the toboggan style dogsled.
Commerce in this vast northern landscape would have been almost entirely impossible for more than six months out of the year had it not been for the toboggan. Countless inland peoples and communities would have been completely isolated, cut off for the duration of the winter, without supplies, mail, or the emergency medical attention necessary for survival in the unforgiving northern Canadian wildernes, a vital need which was competently filled by this iconic freighting sled.
Traditional Métis Craftsmanship
Today, Samuel Carey still continues the tradition of his Métis heritage, hunting, trapping, exploring and traversing Canada's harsh winter climate by the traditional toboggan style dogsled.
As a result of his years of dogsledding, trapping and back country snowmobiling, Samuel Carey has used his experience to create a line of sleds that are not only extrememly functional, but very affordable.
